Cost of living in Dubai
The cost of living in Dubai is quite high, but in relation to salaries there. Rentals are comparable to any large city and in fact are generally much more reasonable than in cities like New York, Paris or Madrid. The price of rents has dropped considerably since the recession, and the demand of the owners, who in the past came to request a year's rent in advance, has also decreased.

The big drawback is that there are few gas stations, and that often causes long lines to be created to fill the tank (something that would not bother me if filling it was so cheap).
Transport in Dubai: Cars, taxis and metro
Most people who live and work in Dubai have a car, and walking through the streets you can see authentic luxury cars of the best brands, since, apart from being a rich city, cars in Dubai are slightly cheaper than in other parts of the world. If you are a lover of Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini or other luxury brands, living in Dubai will recreate your sight every day.
The problem with the use of taxis to move is not their price (they are cheap), but the lack of reliability. During rush hours, with roads plagued by traffic jams, you may be waiting for hours to get a taxi. On the other hand, do not even consider walking everywhere, much less by bicycle. Not only will you not endure the excessive heat, but Dubai is clearly a city with streets not built with pedestrians or cyclists in mind.
In relation to the Dubai metro, great praise can be said. Apart from being modern and large, it is economical, comfortable and fast.
